This past weekend my husband Greg and I traveled to Charlottesville, Virginia for a friend’s wedding. This trip was the perfect opportunity for a “Parent’s Night Out”, a long overdue experience. While we were gone, Mason stayed with my parents and had a wonderful time visiting with the Easter Bunny and participating in an a town-wide Easter Egg Hunt. Needless to say, he was in wonderful hands and was sufficiently spoiled while we were away!
As dedicated Marriott customers, we stayed at the Residence Inn in Downtown Charlottesville. The wedding was a nighttime event, allowing the perfect amount of time for us to grab lunch with friends and explore the quaint college town.
The wedding was held at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyard, an absolutely stunning venue just outside of Charlottesville. The ceremony and cocktail hour were held outdoors, providing the perfect setting for a photo op.
Taking full advantage of our night away, we scheduled our return flight for early Sunday afternoon, which allowed us to catch up on some much needed sleep (YESS) and to also enjoy a hot breakfast. However, upon arriving at the airport, we quickly realized that our return trip was not going to be the quick and easy end that we were hoping for. After 6 hours of delays, our flight was officially cancelled and re-booked for Monday, otherwise turning our “Parent’s Night Out” into a “Parent’s Weekend Out.” Unfortunately, we were too exhausted on Sunday night to explore any of downtown Richmond, so we instead resorted to room service at our hotel.
After a long (yet fun) weekend away, we were both so ready to come home and see our sweet boy and catch up on some much needed Mason snuggles!
